Climate

Located in the heart of central Europe, Poland enjoys a temperate continental climate. This makes for cool winters and warm, pleasant summers. Poland is also known as one of the least rainy countries in Europe, meaning there is less chance of rainfall if you live and work there. Ideal, isn't it?

The environment

If you are considering moving to Poland and working there, you will have plenty of opportunities to explore this fascinating country. Poland is rich in colorful and vibrant cities that are definitely worth a visit. Take for example the capital Warsaw, beautifully located on the river. This city was completely destroyed during World War II but later impressively rebuilt, carefully replicating the historic character of the 17th and 18th centuries. The result is so unique that the city center is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Warsaw is a city of colorful alleys, imposing buildings, castles and vast green gardens, where street musicians and horse-drawn carriages contribute to an atmospheric ambiance.

Krakow, Poland's second largest city, is not to be missed. This city is a real draw for students and tourists, thanks in part to its colorful streets and rich history related to World War II. Moreover, a visit to the nearby Auschwitz concentration camp is an impressive experience that leaves a deep impression. Each of these places offers a unique insight into Poland's heritage and the resilience of its people.

The culture

Poland is known not only for its rich history and colorful cities, but also for the warm hospitality of its people and delicious culinary traditions. Sumptuous dining is a popular custom in Poland, and you should definitely take the opportunity to sample some of Poland's most famous dishes. These include pierogi, zurek and bigos, all of which attest to the rich flavors of Polish cuisine.

The Polish people also have a penchant for conviviality with a good drink. Beer is often served in the many restaurants and bars, but on special occasions people toast with vodka, Poland's national drink. All this makes Poland a great place to live and work, where you can fully enjoy the local culture and gastronomy.

When working in Poland, you will be introduced to some unique national holidays that are deeply rooted in the country's history. One of the most important is Polish Independence Day on Nov. 11. This day marks Poland's regained independence after World War I. All over the country, and especially in Warsaw, lavish fireworks shows, solemn ceremonies and concerts are held on this day. The capital also hosts the country's largest military parade, an impressive display of national pride.

In addition, on May 1, Poland celebrates State Holiday, which coincides with the international Labor Day. Another important national holiday is celebrated on May 3: Constitution Day, in honor of the adoption of the Polish Constitution in 1791, one of the oldest constitutions in the world. These days provide a wonderful opportunity to experience Polish culture and traditions up close and experience the national pride of Poles.
