Job description

Be part of our mental health clinic in Arusha, Tanzania, just 15 minutes from the bustling White House hostel where you will be staying. As an intern, you will be part of a dedicated team of psychiatric nurses, counselors, psychotherapists and social workers who provide crucial mental health services to the community. This unique opportunity allows psychology students and social workers to gain practical experience in a diverse cultural environment that is quite different from Western contexts. The clinic treats everything from anxiety and depression to addictions, trauma and family problems through clinical assessments, counseling and therapy sessions. You'll also participate in community initiatives such as support groups and awareness campaigns. Your typical day begins at 8 a.m. with a team meeting to discuss and distribute the day's work, and ends around 1-14 p.m. with an assessment session to prepare for the next day. This transformative experience requires a minimum commitment of 3 weeks to become fully immersed in the local rhythm of care and make a meaningful contribution to this essential mental health program - one of the few in the country!

The organization charges program fees to make this project possible, we have listed the costs below:

  • 3 weeks (min. stay): €699
